Broad political overtime ban for three weeks in technology industry – Additional political strikes in early February
The Industrial Union announced a comprehensive political overtime ban across several industrial sectors on Tuesday, January 9th, and new political strikes on Thursday, December 28th. The actions outlined in the strike notice primarily target the chemical industry sector.
The extensive overtime ban declared by the Industrial Union will be in effect from January 10th and will conclude on February 4th. This ban covers more than 20 Industrial Union collective agreement sectors, including the technology industry. The overtime ban excludes emergency work and tasks essential for the protection of life and health.
From January 10th at 00:00 to February 4th, 2024, at 23:59, the overtime ban applies to the following Industrial Union collective agreement sectors in the technology industry:
- Ore mines industry
- Sheet and industrial insulation branch
- Technology industry
In December, the Industrial Union announced plans to shut down Neste’s oil refinery on February 1st–2nd and submitted notices for political industrial action concerning the Kilpilahti and Kokkola industrial areas.
The trade union movement opposes the social security and labor market reforms proposed by the government.
During their press conference, the Industrial Union mentioned that they are considering additional political strikes, but no decisions have been made yet.
