Technology Industry Employers of Finland was established in March 2021, when Technology Industries of Finland decided to abandon national collective bargaining activities. Responsibility for national collective bargaining activities has been transferred to the new employers’ association on 10 August 2021.

Technology Industry Employers of Finland acts as a sub-association of Technology Industries of Finland, and the associations work closely together.

Membership of Technology Industry Employers of Finland requires membership of Technology Industries of Finland. As a member of Technology Industries of Finland, a company can choose whether it wants to be within the scope of national collective bargaining. If the answer is yes, the company can apply for the membership of Technology Industry Employers of Finland. In this case, the company is a member of both associations. In connection with the application process, an assessment is made to define which national collective agreements would be applicable to the company applying the membership.

However, if a company does not want to be covered by national collective bargaining activities, it can be a member of Technology Industries of Finland only. In this case, the company can negotiate a company-specific collective agreement or stay outside of the scope of collective bargaining.

The aim of the change in the association structure is to promote workplace bargaining through company-specific agreements and by increasing the possibilities for local bargaining in national collective agreements.

Membership of Technology Industries of Finland automatically means membership of the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK), as Technology Industries of Finland is a member federation of the EK.

The membership fee of Technology Industry Employers of Finland is included in the membership fee of the Technology Industries of Finland.
