Negotiations for pay settlement will continue in October

Negotiations for the pay settlement for employees in technology industry will continue in the second week of October. Technology Industry Employers of Finland and the Industrial Union attempted to reach a common stance today on Tuesday, but have not so far reached similair enough views on the matter. The original goal was to reach a solution in September.

− The parties still have very different views on the level and structure of the pay settlement. Unfortunately the parties have failed to reach similair conclusions even though the facts of the economy are the same for both parties. Further discussions are needed in order to find a common stance, says the CEO of Technology Industry Employers of Finland Jarkko Ruohoniemi.

− According to predictions the outlook of the economy is still darkening and general uncertainty is increasing. The prolonged negotiations will certainly not make the situation easier. The faster a responsible solution that secures competitiveness and purchasing power is reached, the better for all parties and for the entire society, Ruohoniemi clarifies.

Both parties have the possibility to terminate the currently valid collective agreement, in which case it will expire in the end of November. The termination of the collective agreement must be performed no later than October the 14th.

If the current contract is terminated, the entire content of the collective agreement might become subject to negotiations. Until now the negotiations have only been about the pay settlement.

Technology Industry Employers of Finland and the organisations for salaried and senior salaried employees will hold meetings this week. The negotiators will agree on how the negotiations will continue within the next few days.
